the gallops

Highbeck Stables is ideally situated in between the two sets of gallops Middleham offers - the Low Moor and the High Moor. This offers the ability to choose the best location and surface for training each individual horse on a daily basis.

the Low Moor

The Low Moor has two all-weather gallops up to 7 furlongs, and grass gallops also 7 furlongs in length. In addition, there are a number of modern jumps schooling facilities and various sets of practice stalls.

The high moor

The High Moor has outstanding grass gallops up to a mile and a half in distance as well as a recently completed new all-weather gallop, that likewise, stretches up to a mile and a half.

Highbeck stables

  • Two American-style barns stabling 60 horses
  • Two 5-bay covered Monarch horse walkers
  • Turnout pen for rehabilitation and safe exercise 
  • 5 large turnout fields on site for relaxation and grazing
  • Excellent summer grazing in close proximity to the yard

At Highbeck Lodge, all-year turnout is available for the horses, allowing for maximum recovery post-race and maintaining good respiratory health.  There is excellent summer grazing, located 15 minutes from the yard, with shelter and a rich supply of grass.
